EVIT Students Capture 27 Medals at SkillsUSA Contest

Students from the East Valley Institute of Technology participated in the Arizona State SkillsUSA competition on March 27 at the Phoenix Convention Center. Of the 110 students competing, 27 were awarded medals in 14 different career and technical education programs including 10 gold medals, 8 silver and 3 bronze. Gold medalists at the state level will travel to Kansas City to compete for national titles June 23-27 at the 48th annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC).

- 3-D Visualization and Animation: Gold to Kira Miter (McClintock) and Domonic Kunz (adult student); Silver to Hannah Simon (Basha) and Amanda Ryberg (Saguaro)
- Aesthetics: Gold to Erica Ryu Price (Gilbert); Silver to Alexa Schneider (Mountain View); Bronze to Elaine Delvecchio (Desert Mountain)
- Audio/Radio Production: Gold medal to Gael Campos (East Valley Academy) and Lucas Townsend (McClintock); Silver to Carlos Caraballo (Mesquite) and Branden Johnson (Corona Del Sol)
- Basic Automotive Service Technology: Gold to Tom Reeves (Mountain View)
- Collision Repair Technology: Silver to Jesus Galindo (Westwood)
- Cosmetology: Gold to Shaley Sato (Westwood); Silver to Breanne Hornbeck (Apache Junction)
- Criminal Justice: Silver to Marisol Sandoval (Mesa)
- Electrical Construction Wiring (Residential): Gold to James Guthrie (Skyline)
- Firefighting: Gold to Kelly Ranft (Fountain Hills); Bronze to Aaron Pietryga (Skyline)
- Masonry: Gold to Landon Boren (Red Mountain); Silver to Abel Norzagaray (Queen Creek)
