It is a main goal as a servant leader in my nearly 30 years of my career to contribute in a positive and impactful manner to the support and advocacy of Career and Technical Education. To be considered for the Presidency of ACTEAZ, I believe creates an opportunity to positively support CTE and create collaborative leadership to the Association. ACTEAZ is currently a strong and very respectable organization not only in Arizona but throughout the country.

If selected as President, I would hope to continue to contribute to the leadership of the Association but also create additional transformational opportunities for further development and partnerships in the future. As President creating and supporting strong career pathways from secondary to postsecondary education leading to employment would be a strategic goal. Further strengthening systems for internships, clinicals and apprenticeships for students in all levels of education would be a priority.

My most important responsibility as President is to support and serve the CTE students and faculty of the Association. I would spend much of my time listening to the needs of students and faculty. I would also be committed to creating greater opportunities in partnership with employers and other workforce and economic development organizations to further grow the Arizona economy. If selected, it would be true honor to serve as President of ACTEAZ in creating an environment of sustainable job growth through career and technical educational attainment opportunity.

I wish to run for the ACTEAZ Vice President position to advance the Association’s progress with the following:

• Member Support – To support CTE teachers for the purpose of instructional excellence and student achievement through the Premier Professional Development Series and networking opportunities.
• Advocacy – To build systemic support for CTE through focused statewide advocacy and outreach, including efforts to reinforce business & industry connections through Circle of Distinction members.
• Leadership Development – To intentionally grow educational leaders through Affiliate support and the Fellows program.

As a long-time CTE classroom teacher and passionate advocate for CTE, I wish to serve as Secretary for ACTEAZ so I can help build on the momentum we currently have in the state for the good work our members do each and every day in CTE classrooms and labs throughout Arizona.

I have a sincere and genuine interest in serving our members as the ACTEAZ Secretary and working with ACTEAZ staff, the executive committee and other board members to further the development and improvement of high-quality CTE across the state through ACTEAZ activities.

I wish to use my role as well to help increase the awareness of high-quality CTE as a valuable
opportunity to provide meaningful and relevant pathways for young people. I believe we as an
organization need to continue the good work already begun to advocate and educate our community regarding CTE’s ability to positively impact our workforce and the economy here in the state of Arizona.

As a CTE classroom teacher, longtime ACTEAZ member, former ACTEAZ Fellow and former board member of both the AZ Cooperative Education Association as well as FACS Ed, I have a foundational understanding of the organization and its ability to positively impact members across the state. I understand the needs of our members and am committed to serving the organization to the best of my ability. I look forward to the opportunity to serve as your ACTEAZ Secretary! Thank you.

Passion: intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction – Merriam-Webster. My passion is for every student to have a plan for post-secondary success. The road to post-secondary success is CTE.
For the last twenty-five years, CTE guided my teaching career. From teaching junior high students how to use computers in the 90’s to typing and Microsoft in the 00’s to teaching business in high school to providing professional development for teachers and then finally to leading CTE in the Agua Fria Union High School District for the last five years, CTE is my passion.
As a Fellow and the ABEA President in 2011-2013, I had a chance to be a part of the ACTEAZ Board. During that time, I learned so much about the impact the Board has on the success of CTE in the state. There is so much behind the scenes work accomplished by the volunteers. Growing as a Leader is my goal for the upcoming school year. Being a part of the ACTEAZ Board will be a big part of that goal. Now is the time for me to help the organization that helped mold me as a CTE leader
ACTEAZ builds the platform for CTE success in Arizona. It is very evident that ACTEAZ needs dedicated volunteers to educate and advocate for CTE. At this stage of my career is the perfect time to give back my time and talents to the ACTEAZ Board that taught me so much.
Every successful organization needs worker bees. I realize that each board member and affiliate has different tasks. I am willing to accept any tasks, which would continue the success of CTE in Arizona. As member at large, it would be my pleasure to help ACTEAZ in any way needed.

Thank you for considering me for the ACTEAZ Member at Large position. CTE has always been very important to me, in fact I was a BMAS completer in high school! My experience as a CTE student was what inspired me to choose teaching as my profession. I received my B.A. from Arizona State University in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Business and my Master’s from Grand Canyon University in Educational Leadership.

I have taught at both Junior High and High School levels; including computer applications, Marketing, and Education Professions. As the Assistant Director of CTE for the Chandler Unified School District, I help to oversee all aspects of our 19 programs. CUSD has over 7,000 9th – 12th graders enrolled in CTE courses, which are offered at our six high schools.

I have been very fortunate to work with amazing CTE leaders; who have taught, guided, and have continued to encourage me to seek and share what CTE has to offer all students. I believe it is our responsibility to support each other as a CTE family; to share our knowledge and promote all CTE programs across the state. ACTEAZ is invaluable to our teachers and students. As the Member at Large, I would continue to support the vision and purpose of the association not only in my district but for all ACTEAZ members.
