High Tech U Teacher Academy Programs
Thanks to the success of previous High Tech U Teacher Academy programs, Boeing is once again funding Maricopa Community Colleges, through MATEC, to support 36 teachers to attend a two-day hands-on workshop. We are offering the 2016 High Tech U Teacher Academy on Friday, February 19th and Saturday February 20th, 2016 at Phoenix College.
As in previous years, we are awarding fellowships to teams of teachers to cover the cost of registration, professional development hours, and stipends. See more details below.
Finally, please note that only one teacher from each team needs to be from a STEM/CTE discipline.
FELLOWSHIP DETAILS:
For each team member, the fellowship includes:
- Academy Registration, valued at $400, for the SEMI High Tech U Teacher Academy February 19th and 20th (includes breakfast, lunch, and snacks for both days).
- 15 Professional Development hours upon successful completion of the SEMI High Tech U Teacher Academy.
- $100 Reimbursement to participant’s school for a substitute, to cover teacher’s absence on Friday, February 19th.
- $100 Stipend (paid to each teacher) for successful completion of the SEMI High Tech U Teacher Academy.
HIGH TECH U TEACHER ACADEMY – DESCRIPTION
In collaboration with the Maricopa Community Colleges, the High Tech U Teacher Academy helps teachers incorporate contextual learning methods and methodologies to increase student success and engagement. The Academy gives educators the ability to learn new, fun, and exciting ways to incorporate high-tech, industry-relevant activities in the teaching process while maintaining the commitment to state required curriculum and standards. Fellowships to attend this professional development workshop are sponsored by The Boeing Company.
