Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) – Arizona members and advisers have strong showing at National Leadership Conference!
On June 27, 2014 over 275 Arizona high school students and business teachers attended the 2014 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference in Nashville, TN. In order to qualify for this conference, students competed in over 60 different business related events at the state level and the top winners went on to represent Arizona at the National Conference. With more than 10,000 FBLA members, advisers, and volunteers from across the country in attendance, the Arizona delegation had a strong showing, bringing home 28 national awards including the largest state membership increase in the nation with 1,542 new members! Centennial High School Senior, Ian Mullane, campaigned and won the election to serve as the 2014-2015 National Western Region Vice-President! Ian is also the recipient of the Who’s Who Award and there are 21 recipients of the Business Achievement Award – America Level. Arizona’s 11 performance event finalists are:
- 1st Place in Virtual Business Management Challenge – Ivonne De La Trinidad, Crystal Loza & Daniel Sanchez Ruiz from Metro Tech High School
- 2nd Place in Entrepreneurship – Steven Berrera, Dallas Dastrup & Mollie Wiegand from Benson High School
- 2nd Place in Help Desk – John Hatch from Mesa Mountain View High School
- 2nd Place in Management Information Systems – George Jones & Seth Stuart from Mesa Mountain View High School
- 4th Place in Introduction to Information Technology – Michael Cai from Payson High School
- 5th Place in Virtual Business Management Challenge – Aracely Lopez Burboa, Adrian Partida Raygoza, Alejandra Salinas Oclica from Metro Tech High School
- 6th Place in Business Communication – Tyler Wilson from Ironwood High School
- 8th Place in Job Interview – Iridiana Ibarra from Florence High School
- 8th Place in Management Decision Making – Katie Anderson, Savannah Hillenbrand & Connor Richards from Estrella Foothills High School
- 9th Place in Business Financial Plan – Jesus Castillo, Joe Medina & Uriel Valenzuela from Metro Tech High School
