Submitted by Dennis Discus.
On September 24-26, 2012, approximately 125 Arizona Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (AZ FCCLA) high school members and their advisors attended the annual 2012 Fall Leadership Camp at Pine Summit in Prescott, AZ. This leadership development training brought 18 statewide AZ FCCLA Chapters for three fun filled days of dynamic teambuilding and youth leadership development. Camp Director, Sarah Geiger and Tri Leadership Resources led the training, which included workshops teaching students to improve their skills in communication, teambuilding and networking. Members and advisors were taught to “Discover the Treasure of LeaderSHIP” with leadership development to learn, practice and be the best leaders for AZ FCCLA chapters in AZ. Accompanying the leadership development, students had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful pines of Prescott, AZ and engage in fun activities both indoors and out. The camp was a great experience for all who attended as AZ FCCLA members left ready to tackle new adventures as trained leaders to build their local schools and community.
Members of AZ FCCLA were prepped and encouraged to attend and recruit others for future AZ FCCLA events scheduled to take place for the year to come. AZ FCCLA Fall Conference is scheduled to occur on November 15, 2012 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Mesa, AZ. This event is expected to draw over 1,500 high school and junior high school students from all over the state. In March 2013, AZ FCCLA will host their Spring Conference at the Westin La Paloma in Tucson, AZ. At this competitive event, the top student competitors will have the opportunity to progress to the AZ FCCLA National Competition scheduled to take place in Nashville, TN in July 2013 and compete against other top AZ FCCLA student competitors nationwide.
