Arizona FEA Places at National
Submitted by Dennis Discus
The 23rd annual FEA National Conference was held at the Hilton Baltimore in Baltimore. The national conference provided students and advisors with the opportunity to network with FEA members. This year, the keynote speaker was America Ferrera, best known for her role as “Betty Suarez” on ABC’s hit comedy Ugly Betty. She gave an inspirational speech on her educational journey and the value of a good education. The conference included workshops on a variety of topics, which connected with FEA chapter needs. Competitions in several events took place on Saturday for students wanting to demonstrate their presentation and writing skills. Arizona winners included: Julia Henrikson from Sunnyslope High School placed 3rd in the Application & Interview Competition; Taylor Way from Greenway High School placed 3rd in the Lesson Planning Competition; Raymond S. Kellis was recognized for their performance in the Energy Day Competition, which was a new event this year; and Greenway High School was also recognized for their performance in the Ethical Dilemma Event. Over 60 students represented Arizona from (7) chapters. The Arizona FEA is part of the FEA International Student organization with over 11,000 members.
